Getting Started with the new Altium-Ansys Smart Bridge

Altium Designer is with no doubt the most popular EDA Platform in Australia and New Zealand.

We at LEAP Australia have been supporting Altium Users for years.

When it comes to early stages of PCB design assessments up to pre-compliance putting the PCB Designs under test. This can be a basic voltage drop analysis, a more advanced DDR5 analysis up to EMC investigations or the reliability of the board under MIL-STD-810G.

Since the beginning of 2024 a smart Digital bridge connects Design and simulations seamlessly making it easy to transfer the PCB from Altium to the Ansys Electronics Desktop. This bridge is now available for 2024R2 and has been improved for better usability and functionality.

    What is new?

The connection now supports SSO authentication to Altium A365 workspace.

Changes in parameters of via plating are now detected and flow into ANSYS after pulling changes from Altium Designer. This also works for differential pairs and net class changes.

Ansys icon for projects and user comments have been added in the Automation tab.

The connection to Altium Account A365 / Altium On-prem server workspace can now be selected from the list in the Projects panel.

For everyone who hasn’t tested the smart bridge yet and is interested to see the new workflow in action can reach out to us at LEAP Australia for a supported evaluation.
