LEAP at the Avalon Australian International Airshow 2025

LEAP Australia had a fantastic week at the 2025 Avalon Australian International Airshow representing our partners PTC and Ansys and showcasing impressive innovations alongside Integra Systems, Monash HPR and RMIT University.

LEAP exhibited on the Victorian Government Pavilion in Hall 1, demonstrating the latest in computer aided engineering & simulation, digital transformation and digital mission engineering technologies. The team was joined by Monash High Powered Rocketry and their latest rocket Project Zenith, while LEAP partner Integra Systems was just on the other side of the Pavilion, demonstrating the PTC Windchill Navigate Shop Floor app on the Integra K4.0 kiosk.

Here Paul O’Shaughnessy, PTC Business Manager, provides an overview of all the exciting displays that LEAP has been involved with at this year’s Airshow.

Ansys had their biggest presence ever at the Avalon Airshow this year and LEAP’s Ansys team joined them at their stand in Hall 2. The week was full of productive meetings with local Ansys customers looking to strategise and plan towards the exciting future of simulation.

Ansys also took part in the speakers program at the Avalon 2025 Hub, the subject of Advancing Innovation in Defense through Digital Engineering presented by Shuzo Otani, Area Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Aerospace & Defense and Brigadier General (Retired) Steve Bleymaier, Chief Technology Officer for Aerospace & Defense at Ansys Inc. attracting a large turnout of people keen to hear the latest global trends in digital engineering.

The presentation provided a deep dive into how digital engineering is helping aerospace and defence companies operate in an increasingly demanding and complex environment – nations are looking to adopt digital transformation best practices to be agile, innovative, and reduce time & costs in the acquisition lifecycle in conjunction with Model Based Acquisition processes to look at analysis of alternatives to decide the right acquisition strategy. In this background the ability to simulate the battlefield digitally through Digital Mission Engineering and check for mission success metrics for the digital assets they will acquire are critical.

Hear from Nick Goodall, Ansys Business Manager at LEAP alongside Dave Firth, Vice President Sales APAC Region at Ansys Inc. discuss their activities at the Airshow this year, before Steve Bleymaier, CTO for Aerospace & Defence at Ansys Inc. provides a brief overview of his Avalon 2025 Hub presentation.

Monash High Powered Rocketry team’s latest rocket Project Zenith was on display at LEAP’s stand on the Victorian Government Pavilion at Avalon 2025. The groundbreaking hybrid-motor design is the most powerful student researched and developed rocket of its kind and will be competing at the International Rocketry Competition later this year in Texas.

Monash HPR uses Creo and Windchill to create and manage their CAD data and employs Ansys for engineering simulation, and the team has created a fantastic augmented reality experience that uses x-ray vision to provide a detailed look at the internals incl payload and avionics to show how everything works. The AR experience also includes animation of the air brake design deploying (with CFD simulation results) – See some of the highlights in the following clip.

There were many student teams on display at Avalon 2025 including Monash High Powered Rocketry, Monash Rover Team, Sydney Interplanetary Rover Initiative, RMIT DBF Team and more. The show provided a great opportunity to see some of the amazing work these teams are doing to stay ahead of the pack in their respective competitions.

As Kaylee Li, Student Team Partnership Liaison at LEAP explains in the next clip, LEAP is proud to support student teams across a wide range of academic competitions, visit the LEAP website for more information.

Joining LEAP on the Victorian Government Pavilion, Integra Systems demonstrated the PTC Windchill Navigate Shop Floor app on the Integra K4.0 kiosk for the first time in Australia, showcasing live downstream deliverables for work instructions, generated and managed inside Windchill.

Watch the clip below to see this versatile touchscreen unit in action, designed to meet the specific needs of any industrial environment, transforming traditional manual operations into an Industry 4.0 enabled, digitised workflow.

LEAP is proud to partner with Integra Systems to help enable a Digital Thread of PLM data to the shop floor through the combination of Windchill PLM and the Integra K4.0 Kiosk.

The LEAP team had a fantastic time at Avalon 2025 – to everyone who visited us on the LEAP and Ansys stands, we look forward to connecting with you again soon! If you would like to learn more about anything we have covered in this recap, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
