Across Feb & March 2021, LEAP is running a 6-part webinar series on PTC Windchill suitable for both existing & new users of PLM. During this series, we intend to provide an in depth look at the core capabilities of Windchill and highlight examples of how companies around the world are using PLM to boost their efficiency and product quality, at a time when teams are increasingly forced to collaborate remotely.
The first webinar in the series was entitled Introduction to Windchill PLM and the Digital Thread – here are the highlights for those who might have missed the live session:
An introduction to the Windchill PLM series by LEAP’s PTC Business Manager, Paul O’Shaughnessy:
Next Allan Thompson, LEAP’s PTC Technical Manager, provides a comprehensive overview of the core capabilities of Windchill, and then examines the current drivers for industrial disruption. Allan then explains the concept of the Digital Thread and how it pertains to the Digital Organisation – using technology to connect the products, people, places and processes within an organisation. He also provides context for how this works within PTC’s Digital Transformation Solution Suite – including other PTC technologies such as Creo for 3D CAD, ThingWorx for Internet of Things (IoT) and Vuforia for Augmented Reality (AR).
Next Allan takes a detailed look at how Windchill works using an object-based digital data model and defines a digital product as a sum of its digital parts – how all information pertaining to a product structure, its associated CAD data, assemblies, derived content, version histories and so on can be managed using Windchill.
This section provides an overview of each of Windchill’s key capabilities including requirements management, content management, project collaboration, governance and workflow, BOM management, change & configuration management, manufacturing process management and much more.
Finally Allan provides insight into how innovative companies can bring digital transformation to life using a customer case study from Groupe Beneteau, a French yacht manufacturer who are using the flexibility provided by Windchill to offer their customers an extremely customisable product.
We hope you have enjoyed this first of our six-part webinar series on Windchill. As always if you have any questions about anything discussed here please don’t hesitate to contact us.
