Getting the most out of Creo (Part 1)

    Let’s look at how companies using Creo are able to increase the value of their CAD models by empowering their engineers and designers to use some of the advanced functionality available in Creo. These capabilities are there to help streamline product development, facilitate production and assist your colleagues working downstream.

    Best of all, all of these Creo capabilities we describe here are fully associative within your CAD model, so changes automatically propagate to downstream deliverables, keeping everyone in your team on the same page.

    This recording from our recent webinar is presented by Taju Joseph, Application Engineer at LEAP, and is the first of a two part series covering:

    • Simulation: Validate your designs with integrated simulation before making costly prototypes and tools.
    • Mould Design & Analysis: Develop production tools and evaluate mould flow performance.
    • Modern Manufacturing: Turn your designs in to reality, using NC machining as well as innovative additive manufacturing.

    In the fist clip below, Taju provides an introduction to the webinar series, then begins by demonstrating some of the capabilities of Creo Simulation Live which empowers users with real-time simulation tools, providing them with near instantaneous design validation feedback.

    Taju then takes a look at the Creo Mould Analysis extension (CMA) which allows designers to analyse and optimise design geometry and mould conditions to avoid defects and costly rework. The clip below explains how the capabilities of CMA allow designers to design for ‘mouldability’, enabling them to perform early analysis to allow them to identify and resolve design flaws and even to simulate the injection moulding process. Taju then provides a live demonstration of the CMA extension at work.

    In the next clip Taju goes on to explore Creo’s extensive manufacturing solutions which include tools for both additive and subtractive manufacturing as well as for tool design, generative design, topology optimisation and much more. Once again Taju gives a live demonstration of some of these tools, namely for tool design and machining. Watch the clip below to learn more.

    Finally, Taju provides a quick demonstration on how when linked, these tools can work together to facilitate quick and easy changes to the entire model, including your mould design. Changes to geometry for example can flow back to your mould design and even to the machining extension with a simple click of a button. Watch below to see it in action.
